Junior League of Houston Foundation
In 1999, the Junior League created the Community Endowment. In 2005, a separate organization, the Junior League of Houston Foundation, was created. Community Endowment assets were transferred to the Foundation, and the Foundation's board is charged with overseeing the management, investment and distribution of funds. The purpose of this Community Endowment is to sustain, expand and initiate League-designated community programs in perpetuity.
Income generated by the Community Endowment will provide a safety net for League programs should other sources of revenue fall short. In addition, the availability of such income will allow the League to act quickly to address unmet community needs and to participate in important collaborations.
In 2012 – 2013, the first gift from the Community Endowment was made to the League's Community Program in the amount of $75,000.
