The Junior League of Houston's Outside Board Representative Program

Members of The Junior League of Houston, Inc. have served as non-voting representatives on the board of directors of other nonprofit organizations or as members of committees since the Junior League's inception in 1925. Nonprofit organizations seek Junior League members for their boards or committees for a variety of reasons but most importantly because Junior League members are well trained in nonprofit operations. Junior League members know how committees and boards operate and arrive armed with knowledge and experience from their volunteer work with the Junior League. Typically, Junior League members participating as an Outside Board Representative serves on the board of an agency in line with its board term guidelines, generally for one to three years, and coincide this service with the Junior League’s year, June 1 – May 31.

Applications for new agency participation in the 2018 2019 Outside Board Representative Program are open now and will remain open until Friday, September 15, 2017.
