About the JLH Tea Room

Please note that Briar Oaks Lane is a "NO PARKING" zone. Please park in the League parking garage. Use care when parking in the garage, as the Junior League is not liable for any damage to your vehicle. Tea Room Patron Members and their guests are encouraged to lock their cars and take all personal possessions with them, as the Junior League will not be held responsible in the event of a loss. Thank you for your cooperation.

Building Hours

The front door is open Monday through Saturday, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. If you need to enter the building at another time, please use the door on the northwest end of the building adjoining the parking garage. The building is closed on Sunday.

Tea Room Schedule

The Tea Room is open Tuesday through Saturday, except as noted below, for League members and Tea Room Patron Members.

The Tea Room will be closed the following dates in 2016 – 2017:

  • Saturday, July 2 – Monday, July 4, 2016
  • Saturday, September 3 – Monday, September 5, 2016
  • Tuesday, November 22 – Saturday, November 26, 2016
  • Tuesday, December 20, 2016 – Monday, January 2, 2017
  • Thursday, February 9 – Saturday, February 11, 2017
  • Saturday, May 27 – Monday, May 29, 2017

Luncheon Service

Tuesday through Friday reservations may be made for any time from 11 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. On Saturdays, the Tea Room opens for brunch at 10 a.m. and reservations will be accepted for seatings between 10 a.m. – 1 p.m. It is best to make all reservations in advance.

Ballroom Schedule

Reservations are required for all Ballroom events. Please refer to the Tea Room Calendar for specific events and reservation times. For more information about an upcoming event, please contact the Tea Room Front Office at tearoom_reservations@jlh.org.


The Tea Room Front Office staff will be available Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Saturday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. to take your reservations, by contacting  the Tea Room Front Office at 713.871.6673 or tearoom_reservations@jlh.org. Reservations will not be accepted by mail or voicemail.

League-Sponsored Ballroom Events

Your phone call to reserve a table for a specific Ballroom event will be regarded as an absolute confirmation of that reservation. The League will not call to confirm these reservations. Due to the large demand for reservations in the Ballroom, tables will be available for groups of four or more. Parties of two or three may be asked to join a group table.

Tea Room and Garden Rooms

Although reservations are not required when dining in the Tea Room, they are strongly recommended to assure seating availability. Tea Room reservations are held 15 minutes from the time of reservation.

Cancellation Policy

League-Sponsored Ballroom Events

Cancellations are accepted in person, by phone or by email to the Tea Room Front Office, tearoom_reservations@jlh.org, until one week before the event. The League voicemail system allows callers to leave a message when the telephone is unattended on weekends and after office hours. After the cancellation date has passed, the Tea Room patron member or Junior League member is charged for the spaces/reservations.

Tea Room and Garden Rooms

Groups of eight or more must be cancelled 48 hours in advance.

Private Parties

The Tea Room and the Ballroom are available for evening events seven days a week, year-round, with a few exceptions. Please call 713.871.6673 for more information.

Tea Room

The Junior League of Houston Tea Room is available for evening parties seven days a week, year-round. Although the Tea Room is occasionally closed for regular luncheon service, the facilities are available during these times for private parties, including rental of one of our private Garden Rooms.

Garden Rooms

Three charming dining rooms overlook lovely gardens with seating available for 15 – 36 guests. These areas may be reserved for private business or social luncheons.

The Sara and John Lindsey Garden Room (Garden Room A) seats 15 to 20 guests.

The Louise Thomas Cooley Garden Room (Garden Room B) seats 21 to 36 guests.
The Helen Corbitt Garden Room (Garden Room C) seats 15 to 20 guests.


The Junior League of Houston Ballroom is available for evening parties seven days a week, year-round and also for daytime functions. The Ballroom design provides maximum flexibility in handling your function, as well as a gracious setting. The Ballroom accomodates up to 350 guests for a seated affair, 450 guests for a cocktail buffet and 300 guests for a style show. These numbers are subject to change depending upon the table configuration at each function.

In order to keep the League's mailing list current and to assure that you receive all mailings, please send any change of address information to Jane Porter, Corresponding Secretary, at 713.871.6631 or corresponding_sec@jlh.org.

Please note that smoking is prohibited in the Junior League building.

As a courtesy to our Tea Room patron members and their guests, please turn pagers and cell phones on silent mode while in the Tea Room. Please do not use cell phones in the dining areas of the League.

Handicap Access

If your party will include anyone with a wheelchair or walker, please inform the Tea Room staff in advance to ensure easy access to your table.

Wi-Fi Access

The League Building is equipped with wireless internet access. The guest password may obtained from the Front Office for use for presentations in the Ballroom or Tea Room.
