The Junior League of Houston, Inc.’s Annual Opening Style Show Was A Huge Success https://www.jlh.org/2013-the-junior-league-of-houston-inc-s-annual-opening-style-show-was-a-huge-success/ Fri, 06 Sep 2013 14:28:52 +0000 https://www.jlh.org/?p=2830 HOUSTON, TX – (September 6, 2013) – The Junior League of Houston, Inc. continued its longstanding tradition of presenting an Opening Style Show featuring the venerable Elizabeth Anthony | Esther Wolf Collection.  The exclusive specialty store showcased exquisite day and evening wear from American and European designers.  Leading the helm of this year’s luncheon were Special Events Chairman Courtney Culver, Tea Room Director Tanya Merla Leiber and League President, Marian Hearne Hilpert.  Two events were needed to accommodate the hundreds of eager attendees:  a luncheon and style show during the day on Thursday, September 5 and a dinner and style show in the evening.

The Junior League of Houston has been sponsoring style shows since 1929, with the Opening Style Show traditionally marking the beginning of a new League year with League volunteers modeling the latest in fashion trends.  With historical attendance, over two shows, often reaching or exceeding 600, this event continues to be a tradition with League members, Tea Room patron members and their guests. The League set a new course and dazzled its guest with Runway Seating and swag bags filled with the latest treats from Houston’s hottest trends like Kendra Scott and Edward Sanchez│Vanity Lounge.  This year, the League’s Rachel Regan and Maidie Ryan, members of the Board of Directors wore jewelry from Tenebaum & Co, presenting jewelry sponsor, while enjoying the show.  League President, Marian Hearne Hilpert, highlighted the League’s participation in Kids in the Kitchen, which is a national initiative to fight childhood obesity and engages children in the preparation of healthy meals as a means to educate them and their parents about nutrition and healthy lifestyle choices.

League-sponsored events allows the Junior League of Houston to continue “Building A Better Community” through Community Assistance Grants, 38 Community Projects and other League-sponsored initiatives.
