Outside Board Representative Program

Members of The Junior League of Houston, Inc. have served as non-voting representatives on the board of directors or as members of committees of other nonprofit organizations since the Junior League’s inception in 1925. Nonprofit organizations seek Junior League members for their boards or committees for a variety of reasons but most importantly because Junior League members are well trained in nonprofit operations. Junior League members know how committees and boards operate and arrive armed with knowledge and experience from their volunteer work with the Junior League. Typically, a Junior League member participating as an Outside Board Representative serves on the board of an agency in line with its board term guidelines, generally for one to three years, and coincides this service with the Junior League’s year, June 1 – May 31.

The application deadline for organizations to submit a request for an Outside Board Representative beginning in the 2024 – 2025 League year is Friday, September 15, 2023.

If you have any questions, please contact Judy Peterson, Community External Relations Chair.
