President passes on the responsibility of managing the women, vision and mission of the League to her successor. To kick off the League’s 90th anniversary year, Marian Hearne Hilpertpassed the gavel at the May General Meeting to Elizabeth Graves Love, who will serve as the League’s 91st President.

“The League is every bit as committed to developing the potential of women and strengthening the community as we were at our founding 90 years ago,” Elizabeth says. “This year, the Junior League will invest more than $2 million dollars in trained volunteer time and financial support to the Houston community. In addition, the League’s rigorous training and education program cultivates a lifetime of civic service, preparing members to serve as agents of change well beyond their active membership years.”

The Passing of the Gavel also symbolizes the annual transition of the League’s entire leadership team. According to Elizabeth, “I feel so fortunate to be part of an organization that so values women’s leadership, and am extremely grateful for the opportunity to serve as President.”
