In 1999, the Junior League of Houston created the Community Endowment. In 2005, a separate organization, the Junior League of Houston Foundation, was created and Community Endowment assets were transferred to the new Foundation. The Foundation’s board is charged with overseeing the management, investment and distribution of funds. The purpose of the Community Endowment Fund is to sustain and expand the League-designated Community Program in perpetuity, as well as help fund new initiatives. The Junior League of Houston is grateful for your commitment and generosity. Because of supporters like you, the Junior League will remain a powerful resource for the Houston community for generations to come. Together the League and its donors are indeed “Building A Better Community.”

Purpose: The purpose of the Junior League of Houston Foundation is to sustain, expand and initiate League-designated Community Program in perpetuity.

Income Disbursement: Income generated by the Community Endowment Fund is intended to provide a safety net for League programs should other sources of revenue fall short. The availability of such income also allows the League to act quickly to address unmet community needs and to participate in important collaborations. Upon approval by the foundation’s board, a portion of the earnings on the Community Endowment Fund may be available to the Junior League of Houston each year to help sustain, expand and initiate League-designated Community Programs, including community projects, community assistance, and community initiatives. In 2012 – 2013, the first gift from the endowment was made to the League’s Community Program in the amount of $75,000. Since then, over $1.5 million has been disbursed in the greater Houston community.
