Community Initiatives

Through its 2017 – 2018 Community Program, the Junior League of Houston will support 38 projects, some of which are long-standing partnerships while others are in their infancy.

The Junior League typically takes applications for new volunteer opportunities from outside agencies through its Community Initiatives Committee on an annual basis. However, for the 2017 – 2018 League year, the League will explore unmet community issues with the intention of creating a League-initiated placement to meet those needs. Thus, applications for a new project starting in June 2018 from an outside agency will not be taken.

Given the size and dynamic nature of the Greater Houston Area and that volunteer needs constantly evolve, the League is committed to researching opportunities to enhance its Community Program. As a partner in “Building A Better Community,” the Junior League of Houston will continue to evaluate new prospects for service and support, the next League year in 2018 – 2019. Should your agency be interested in applying for a new, ongoing community project supported by Junior League volunteers beginning June 2019, please consider submitting an online Application for Volunteers, which will be available in spring 2018. Please check back at that time for updates.
