PROSPECTIVE MEMBER ENGAGEMENT EVENTS:
We are offering two engagement events this fall for anyone interested in joining The Junior League of Houston. These events will give prospective members a chance to meet other women interested in applying for membership with the League. Additionally, members of the League will be available to answer questions about the admission process and the League in general in a fun and socially distanced environment.
Volunteer Event at Books Between Kids: Saturday, October 3, 2020 with shifts starting at 9 a.m.
Come experience a volunteer shift at one of the League’s Community Projects, Books Between Kids! Books Between Kids is the only nonprofit in Houston solely dedicated to providing low income elementary age children with access to books in order to empower them to read and learn. Volunteers will count, sort, pack, and label books in order to prepare for the “book celebrations” in the Houston I.S.D. and the Humble I.S.D. in the Spring. This year, we will split the event into three shifts in order to practice social distancing while still providing an impactful volunteer opportunity. Click here to sign-up directly for a shift at Books Between Kids.
Virtual Social Hour Event: Thursday, November 19, 2020 at 7 p.m.
Join the admissions team and League members for a virtual social hour event and get to know what the League has to offer in a fun, virtual format. Watch for a link to sign-up directly on www.jlh.org soon.
To learn more about the work the League does in the Houston community and meet current members, prospective members are encouraged to volunteer at an agency the League supports with volunteers. Most of the agencies with whom the League is involved have volunteer programs of their own in which interested individuals may participate.
