The Junior League of Houston, Inc. presented the 2018 Sara Houstoun Lindsey Award to Maidie Ryan. This annual award honors an outstanding active League member with a minimum of five years of service who exemplifies the Junior League’s mission, both within the organization and in the community at large. “I truly believe that volunteering together as Junior League members — in administrative, Tea Room and community placements — has a collective impact that cannot be matched or even fully measured. Junior League placements provide members the opportunity to stretch themselves outside of their comfort zones, while learning and growing from one another,” said Ryan.

Ryan has volunteered with the Junior League in a variety of roles, including Communications Writer, Reach Out and Read Chairman, Children’s Culture and Enrichment Director, Communications Director, Community Vice President and Tea Room Special Events Chairman, to name a few. She currently serves as the Houston News Editor.

Ryan currently serves on the Board of Directors for Bo’s Place and Arms Wide Adoption Services. A graduate from the University of Texas at Austin and the University of Texas School of Law, she is also a member of The University of Texas System Chancellor’s Council Executive Committee, the University of Texas Health Development Board, the University of Texas Law School Alumni Association Executive Committee, and the University of Texas Department of History Visiting Committee. She has also served as chairman or co-chairman for numerous fundraising events for other nonprofit organizations in Houston, including Camp For All, Ronald McDonald House Houston, The Health Museum and Texas Accountants and Lawyers for the Arts.
