On the Scene

THE PARTY The Junior League of Houston created a Parisian wonderland for its 70th annual charity ball, this year chaired by Jayne Sheehy Johnston. Spread over two nights, the event raised more than $800,000 and provided quite the spectacle. THE SCENE Festivities both nights began outside the League in a party tent, where black-tie-clad patrons enjoyed hors d’oeuvres and Champagne, naturally, while browsing the silent auction. On Friday, artist Patti Stenson was in attendance to paint a portrait of Marie Antoinette for the live auction, while other items on the board included an Indianapolis 500 VIP package and tickets to an Astros game followed by dinner with Reid Ryan, the team’s president, at Minute Maid Stadium’s Diamond Club.
THE HIGHLIGHTS League members performed a Marie Antoinette and Louis XIV-inspired show for guests before the night finished off with dessert, digestifs and dancing. Vraiment magnifique!
