Considerations for 2017 – 2018 Budget Requests

Program Support can be defined as the dollars necessary to sustain the League project at the agency.

Example: Agency requests $400 to support the training of its 80 volunteers ($5/volunteer). The League, with 10 of the 80 volunteers, would only consider $50 as program support.

Grant Support can be defined as the dollars not necessary to sustain the League project(s) at the agency. These requests can be related or unrelated to the activities of League volunteers.

Note: All salary requests will be considered as grant requests.

Example-related: Agency requests a sound system so that its elderly clients can better hear programs, announcements, directions, etc. League volunteers may directly benefit from the use of this sound system; however, it is not absolutely critical for the continuation of the activities of League volunteers.

Example-unrelated: Agency asks for salary of a media educator. Although this agency employee will never interact with League volunteers, the League would like to address the issue of the effect of the media on adolescents, if not with volunteers, with dollars.
