The application process to become a provisional member for the 2026 – 2027 League year closed on Monday, January 26, 2026.

The Junior League of Houston is open to all women in the Houston area who are interested in “Building A Better Community.”

OUR MISSION

The Junior League of Houston, Inc. is an organization of women whose mission is to advance women’s leadership for meaningful community impact through volunteer action, collaboration and training.

MEMBERSHIP ELIGIBILITY

To join the Junior League of Houston, an applicant must have an interest in voluntarism, a commitment to community service and an interest in developing her potential for voluntary community participation. Additionally, the following requirements must be met:

  • Sponsors: The Junior League of Houston, Inc. has a sponsored admissions process. One member of the Junior League of Houston must propose a prospective member for admission. The League would love to help you obtain a sponsor!
  • Age: Prospective members must be at least 23 years of age by Thursday, January 1, 2026 and not 40 years of age before Wednesday, April 1, 2026.
  • Residency: Prospective members must be a resident of Brazoria, Fort Bend, Harris or Waller County.

APPLICATION PROCESS

The application process to become a provisional member for the 2026 – 2027 League year will open Monday, October 27, 2025 through Monday, January 26, 2026 at 11:59 p.m.

PROSPECTIVE MEMBER OPEN HOUSES

The Junior League of Houston will host two Open Houses at the League building, located at 1811 Briar Oaks Lane, Houston, TX 77027. Dates are listed below. All prospective members are required to attend one Prospective Member Open House. Prospective members requesting sponsor assistance may participate in a “Sponsorship Matching” meet-and-greet that will allow prospective members to be potentially matched with current League members.

PROSPECTIVE MEMBER ENGAGEMENT EVENTS

The Junior League of Houston hosts two, optional, Prospective Member Engagement Events each fall. Prospective members will have the opportunity to meet other women interested in membership at these events. Additionally, current League members will be present to answer questions about the admission process and reflect on their League member experience in a fun environment. One event will be a mix and mingle and the other will incorporate community service activities.

SPONSORSHIP ASSISTANCE

If you need assistance identifying a sponsor, the admissions team is happy to help once the application process opens on Monday, October 27, 2025. A prospective member may participate in the “Sponsorship Matching” meet-and-greet during a Prospective Member Open Houses or request sponsor assistance when completing the application. Additionally, prospective members are welcome to connect with League members at the optional Prospective Member Engagement Events.


REQUIREMENTS FOR 2026 – 2027 PROVISIONAL MEMBERS 

– Attend one of the mandatory Prospective Member Open Houses 
– Attend one Provisional Orientation
– Attend education meetings
– Attend engagement events
– Attend agency visits
– Fulfill community placement (and training)
– Fulfill Tea Room placement (and training)
– Attend general meetings
– Fulfill Special Events Teams (SETs)
– Pay provisional dues of $325 (dues include The Association of Junior Leagues International, Inc. (AJLI) dues and Tea Room uniform cost)
– Complete Provisional Course Evaluation

All components of the provisional course are mandatory and primarily held in-person.
